Sindhi Biryani Recipe
A bold Sindhi-style biryani layered with basmati rice, spiced chicken, potatoes, tomatoes, yogurt and fragrant whole spices.
Ingredients for Sindhi Biryani
- 1 kg chicken, biryani cut
- 4 cups basmati rice
- 3 medium potatoes, halved
- 4 tomatoes, chopped
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 3 tbsp Sindhi biryani masala
- 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
- 4 green chilies
- Fresh mint and coriander
- 1 lemon
- Salt and cooking oil
How to Make Sindhi Biryani
- Wash and soak the basmati rice for 30 minutes.
- Fry the onions until golden, then add chicken, ginger-garlic paste and biryani masala.
- Add tomatoes, yogurt and potatoes and cook until the chicken is tender and the masala thickens.
- Boil the soaked rice in salted water until about three-quarters cooked, then drain.
- Layer rice over the chicken masala with mint, coriander, green chilies and lemon.
- Cover tightly and cook on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes before gently mixing and serving.
